Congratulations to Coach Webb, his staff and players for for their 2026 6A State Baseball Runner Up season finish The Aztecs lost to Hamilton High School 7-10 in the Championship game. The Aztecs were up by 7 runs early in the game, but Hamilton came back late in game to defeat the Aztecs. This was Coach Webb’s second State Runner Up Title since becoming head baseball coach in 2006. The 2026 Team finished the season with a 28 win -8 losses.

Coach Webb just completed his 29th year (2006-present) as head coach of the Corona del Sol Aztec baseball. His teams have had excellent season records.

The 2026 Aztecs started off the season by playing in the Adam Donnefield Pre-Season Tournament (Az) and had a record of 2 wins and 2 loss. The Aztecs then played in the Annual Boris (Arizona) Classical High School Tournament at Corona del Sol and had a record of 2 wins and 2 losses.

The Aztecs played in a very strong region again this year and finished with 4 wins and 4 losses. They received the number 4 seed going into the 6A Arizona State Baseball Tournament.

In the State Tournament, the Aztecs beat Apollo 4-1 in the first round, beat Brophy Prep College 14-3 in the second round , beat Red Mountain 7-2 and then beat Queen Creek 6-3.to go into the Championship game.
The Aztecs were now in the Championship game and had to faced Hamilton in the finals. The Aztecs were up by 7 runs early in the game, but Hamilton came from behind late into the game to win by the score of 7-10 . The Aztec”s had to settle for the 2026 6A State Runner Up Trophy.

Coach Webb has a rich background in baseball, having played at Phoenix Camelback High School for three years (1989-1991). He played for his father, Charlie Webb. Dave went on to play at Scottsdale Community College. He finished his degree at Grand Canyon University (1996). Dave also received his master’s degree from Arizona State University (2003).

Coach Webb teaches World History/Geography and World Geography. He is considered an excellent teacher in the classroom and on the baseball field. He will continue the baseball “TRADITION” at CDS.
